MISSION STATEMENT
Diaspora Cultural Center, Inc. (DCC) is an incorporated non-profit organization under the leadership of its Board of Directors and a group of members interested in the preservation of African Diaspora cultures. DCC’s principal goal is the investigation, compilation, documentation, preservation and dissemination of the traditional culture and history of the Lukumí/Yoruba peoples—natives of West Africa that were brought to Cuba and Brazil, primarily, during the slave trade—and its Diaspora to Cuba and there from. DCC’s also aims to establish relationships and increase cultural interchanges with the Yoruba Diaspora in the Americas and the Caribbean, specifically Brazil, Trinidad, Grenada, Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Jamaica, the United States, and other areas. more >>

MEMBERS BENEFITS
Monthly lectures on a variety of topics associated with the Diaspora. Quarterly conferences and whenever possible. The center will offer weekly seminars or monthly courses on different aspects of Diaspora culture and cultural practices. The center will help its members in any way that it deems necessary and possible. National and international interchanges with other Diaspora communities. The center will have quarterly gatherings to be held at different locations throughout the city or state. Particularly geared, though not limited to the younger members of our community, the center will offer monthly gatherings where our members and their children can share quality time listening to folktales, mythology, poetic recitals, narratives, music and other folkloric elements, especially those that promote respect and self-respect, and a sense of identity. more >>
